The vision of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) Library is to contribute to the intellectual activities of the university to empower research, innovation and learning process to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

IUT Library mission is to deliver world-class library and information services to meet the needs of the university community and to support the university’s mission to contribute to society through the expertise services and resources to enable learning and research at the highest international level of excellence.
OVERVIEW OF THE LIBRARY
Islamic University of Technology (IUT), the subsidiary organ of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), aims to be a leading University of Science, Engineering, and Technology. The IUT Library supports the University to play an important role in being the hub of the 57 OIC member states to disseminate up-to-date knowledge and skills to its graduates for the betterment of the host country Bangladesh as well as the Muslim Ummah.
The IUT Library was established after the inception of its academic activities in 1986. The Library is one of the main attractions of IUT premises for its location. IUT Library is housed on the first floor of the Library/Cafeteria Building beside a beautiful water pool on the eastern and southern sides.
The Library has a present floor area of 1300 sq. meters (approximately 14000 sq. feets) with shelf space of 52,000 books. At present, it has around 37,000 copies of printed books with 8,145 titles. Besides printed resources, the Library subscribes to 33,470 electronic resources in the field of science, engineering, and technology through the memberships of the Library Consortium of Bangladesh (LiCOB) and UGC Digital Library (UDL). IUT Library subscribes to 13 national daily newspapers which are kept in the particular news reading corners. Users can also get access to the theses and dissertations published by different departments of IUT through the gateway of the IUT Institutional Repository (IR).
IUT library tries to set up modern technologies and gives advanced services to its stakeholders. In the Main Hall of the Library, there are 36 computer workstation desks for computer and laptop users. 18 workstation desks are equipped with computers, and in the rest, there are 18 monitors which can be used and connected through users' laptops. IUT Library provides facilities to access quality checker software for writeup/publication, such as Turnitin plagiarism checker software, Grammarly Premium software, etc. There are 02 computer terminals for the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) search. Besides, there are 09 computers in the e-Resource Section for browsing subscribed and open accessed e-Resources. All computers are equipped with high-speed internet facilities, and the whole IUT Library is under WiFi wireless internet coverage.
Considering the continuously changing behavior of the information seekers, IUT Library has been transforming its activities and resources towards automated services and digital resources. IUT Library is partially providing web-based information management and services supported by Integrated Library Management System software "Koha" and Machine-Readable Cataloging (MARC-21). The Library has International connectivity by getting membership of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and the International Association of Technological University Libraries (IATUL).
There is a Distance Learning Theatre (DLT) inside IUT Library, which creates a sophisticated blended environment for virtual lectures, meetings, workshops, etc. DLT room has 48 seating capacity at a time. It has three large LED monitors, two advanced modern cameras, two-way sound system, etc. The Executive Lounge, which is a special place for the faculty members and Heads of Offices, is located in the south lobby of the Library. The beautiful pool view area added an aesthetic look to the Executive Lounge. It has 25 seating capacities at a time. Faculty members, both full-time and part-time, have access to the Executive Lounge. A large smart TV is available here. The IUT Souvenir Shop is maintained and operated by the Library which is located on the ground floor of the entrance point of the IUT Library. Visitors and library users can purchase souvenir items during the specific period.
Besides, IUT Library also continues a Guided Campus Tour that demonstrates the various facilities of the University and fabulous architecture designed by the Turkish architect Pamir Mehmet to the honorable guests such as prospective students and guardians, visitors, researchers, etc.
The Library has different study zones such as Students' Reading Rooms, Engineering Village Section (reference collection section), e-Resource Section, Reading Area in Main Hall, etc. Around 229 users can sit and study around all the locations in the Library. Students' Reading Rooms of the IUT Library remain open seven days a week.
The Library is managed by a group of 10 full-time expert personnel along with three auxiliary staff. IUT Library has been providing intellectual and practical services since its inception.
